Dr. Williams grew up in Philadelphia and has lived most of her adult life in the South. A lifetime runner, she headed to the University of Alabama on a Track and Field scholarship to study microbiology, then earned her medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she served on the Admissions Committee and the UVA Honors Committee. She completed her OB/GYN residency at UVA, serving as Chief Resident in her final year.
Running has been a constant thread through her life -- she has finished both the Boston and New York marathons and is married to an Olympic Gold Medalist from the 1976 Montreal relay. Music runs deep, too: her father is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her brother DJ'd with Will Smith back in Philadelphia, and her son is a director at Capitol Records. Alabama football, she will tell you, is a true addiction. Roll Tide.
Dr. Williams brings that same energy to her community work, volunteering at the Open Door Clinic, coaching with Track Xplosion, and serving on the board of The Healing Place. At MomDoc's Power office, she is the rare physician whose life outside medicine is as full-throttle as her life inside it -- and her patients feel that vitality in every visit.
