Healthcare billing can be confusing. We want to be clear about how it works so you can focus on your health, not your mailbox.
"Why did I get a bill for my annual checkup?" Insurance covers preventive care (your annual Well Woman exam) at 100%. However, if you discuss a specific medical problem (like irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, or a new lump) during that same visit, insurance rules require us to code it as a diagnostic visit. This may trigger a copay or deductible. We are happy to address both in one convenient appointment, but please be aware that your insurance may treat the "problem" portion as a separate, billable service.
Maternity care uses a "Global Fee" model. Instead of billing for every single prenatal visit individually, most insurance plans bundle all your routine prenatal care, your delivery, and your postpartum checkup into one package.
Pap smears, blood work, and biopsies are processed by external labs (like Sonora Quest or LabCorp), not MomDoc. You will receive a separate bill from the lab for these tests. If your insurance requires a specific lab, please tell your provider before any samples are collected.
If you are uninsured or self-pay, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before you schedule non-emergency services. Ask our team for an estimate when you book.
We accept most AHCCCS plans including Care1st, Mercy Care, Arizona Complete Health, and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan.
We accept Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans. Please call to verify your specific plan is accepted.
MomDoc proudly accepts Federal Emergency Services (FES) for maternity care. We understand that FES primarily covers your hospital delivery, but we believe every baby deserves a healthy start. We provide comprehensive prenatal care for FES patients to ensure you and your baby are safe, healthy, and ready for delivery. At MomDoc, all women are seen.
At MomDoc, we believe quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone. We offer a sliding fee scale for patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
Please call (480) 821-3601 to ask about the sliding fee scale.
